The construction of the Noord/Zuidlijn will begin with the building of the underground part of the Noord/Zuidlijn between Central Station and the future Ceintuurbaan Station. This stretch also contains the most difficult sections of the Noord/Zuidlijn, both technically and in terms of its integration within the city. 

The Rokin, Vijzelgracht and Ceintuurbaan stations will be built first. The building activities inside and in front of Central Station likewise began in early 2003, as did the construction of the shield-launching shaft for the tunnel-boring machine. The completion of the metro line is scheduled for 2015.
