The City of Amsterdam is the principal for the construction of the Noord/Zuidlijn. The construction orders were issued on 27 November 1996. Municipal organisation Within the Amsterdam municipal executive body, Alderman Tjeerd Herrema is responsible for the Noord/Zuidlijn. The city’s Department of Infrastructure, Traffic and Transport (Dienst IVV) has set up a separate project organisation charged with managing the quality and the cost of implementing the project: the Noord/Zuidlijn Project Office. This office is accountable to the alderman. Noord/Zuidlijn Information Point The Noord/Zuidlijn Information Point takes care of any contacts with residents and businesses. Project attendants inform people who live or work along the route about the building activities. Residents and businesses can also go here with their questions. Cooperation To ensure that the project will be carried out well, there is a close collaboration between the various municipal districts, other municipal services, the police, fire brigade, utilities such as KPN and NUON and, of course, the contractors.
