[+] A new metro line for Amsterdam

Can you imagine it? Going from Amsterdam-Noord all the way across town to Amsterdam-Zuid in just a quarter of an hour? The Noord/Zuidlijn (North/South Line) is going to make it possible. The much-discussed new metro line will carry 200,000 travellers quickly, safely and comfortably right through the centre of Amsterdam each day.

The metro will be a good alternative to the trams and buses that are often overcrowded. There is no room in the city centre for even more trams and buses. But there is room below the ground. The Noord/Zuidlijn will ensure that Amsterdam becomes – and remains – more easily accessible.

In the Information Centre of the Noord/Zuidlijn you will find an interesting exhibition consisting of numerous scale models, photos, films, archaeological finds and a display describing the various different engineering methods being applied. But you can also take part in a variety of activities that the Information Centre organises throughout the year, such as guided tours and informative evening programmes. You can also visit the Information Centre via this website.

The website is under construction. Therefore the information is outdated. The new website is scheduled for the third quarter 2010. Till then please visit our Dutch website for the latetst information on the North/Southline.

Here you can look through the nicest photos that have been taken during the construction of the stations and that show the various engineering techniques being used. You can also view the programmes that have been broadcast on the local Amsterdam TV station AT5.
